OUHSC Focus Areas

The Oklahoma Public Health Training Center will focus on four tiers of training and education to accomplish its mission:

Tier 1- Basic Training
Education and training will be provided to workforce members without a formal public health degree, and will focus on various topics and fields, such as health promotion and education, epidemiology, environmental health, health administration and practice, and biostatistics. In addition to trainings held in-person, training material will be available online and in various formats.

Example Tier 1 Projects:

  • HRSA awarded the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (TSPHTM) the Region 6 Public Health Training Center with Local Performance Sites in Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. The focus of the R6PHTC is behavioral health. Read more…

Tier 2- Graduate Certificate in Public Health
The OUHSC College of Public Health offers a Graduate Certificate in Public Health to individuals who hold a four year college degree. The OPHTC will support this effort by suggesting online training and coordinating as requested.


Tier 3- Masters in Public Health
The OPHTC will support enrolled students by suggesting online trainings, offering project scholarships, seeking practicum opportunities, and offering Graduate Research Assistant positiions as funds permit. Stories of Impact...

The OPHTC will support enrolled doctoral students by all the above, plus a Faculty Collaborative opportunity.
