The Oklahoma Public Health Training Center is dedicated to defining and closing gaps in public health education and training among the public health workforce in Oklahoma.  This will be accomplished through multiple objectives:

  • Develop an academic and practice collaborative to promote workforce development
  • Assess the training needs of workers and their organizations in relation to established public health core competencies
  • Design training resources to enhance workers’ knowledge, skills, and abilities in order to provide essential public health services
  • Provide training programs to designated state workers
  • Evaluate the impact of training on the workforce’s ability to provide essential public health services
  • Involve faculty members and students in collaborative projects to enhance public health services to medically underserved communities
  • Establish and strengthen field placements for students in public or nonprofit private health agencies or organizations
